I'm Smriti and I'm a

My name is Smriti Sharma and I'm a Computer Science major at the University of Waterloo, currently minoring in Statistics and Economics. I come from a solid technical background with a strong interest in AI and Machine Learning and a passion towards strategy. I have maintained a 3.9 GPA through a well-balanced program of study, which is not only very analytical and technical by nature but also builds leadership and team building qualities.
Through my research at the University of Toronto, award-winning projects, and extensive extra-curricular activities, I have become very open-minded and use critical and creative thinking skills to analyse and take responsible action on complex problems. As a competitive programmer and mathematician, I have a very strong mathematics background, I have faced several risks and learned to nurture my curiosity, developing skills for inquiry and research. I know how to learn independently and with others and learn with enthusiasm to sustain my love of learning throughout life.

Intelligent Automation CoE Intern, Loblaw Companies Lmt.
May 2021 - August 2021

  • Handled 75 million data records to create dashboards using complex tools in Power BI and Power Automate
  • Contributed to the development of 4 web apps for COVID screening used by 1300+ stores and the government
  • Saved 5+ hours spent on deployment weekly by automating test cases using Selenium, Jenkins and DevOps
  • Deployed Python scripts on RunDeck to get server/hosts information, fetch files, interact with PowerShell and automatically email stakeholders for 3000+ local stores.

  • Taught 70+ students and hosted 170 international coding workshops in software development and ML/AI
  • Mentored 11 projects, hosted 2 workshops in 3 product innovation challenges, resulting in 7 winning teams

Pion Decay Research, University of Toronto
June 2019 - Present

  • Implemented complex algorithms in Java to create models to observe the emergence subatomic particles in a simultion-based research tool called COBWEB )
  • Maintained databases using Hadoop, and wrote SQL and Python queries to effectively store and manage data
  • Performing simulations on the n-body problem using Bulirsch-Stoer method and arbitrary-precision arithmetic
  • Developed course content, quizzes, projects and other engaging activities for students to enhance coding and math skills
